LOVE IS LOVE! A POETRY INSPIRED ENGAGEMENT

We might be to late for awards season (or to early depending how you look it?) but best award for proposal has to go to Vic and Jose for this romantic set up! Inspired by the powerful and memorable speech by Lin Manuel Miranda at the Tony’s this group of creatives decided to center the inspiration for this very special proposal around the power of love and poetry.

“Vic and Jose have been together for ten years, so a passionate yet simple proposal was just their style. The lovers had written so many notes and quoted poems to one another in the past decade, so we decorated the table with paperie inspired by them. I mean, is there a sweeter way to profess your love other than inscribing love notes over the course of ten years of courtship and proposing over a collection of the handwritten letters?” Began photographer, Becki Smith.

“They loved poems by the greats like Browning, Wilcox and Cummings, so with each note, they would add a couple of lines from their favorite poems. Jose had some of these notes beautifully scribed by Katrina of Camel and Birdie. Katrina also created the simply understated “Love is love” hanging banner.”

“The couple has never celebrated an occasion without cake, so there was no way this could go without it. Kristina of Buttercup hand-painted a chocolate pistachio raspberry cake in shades of red, burgundy and gold and topped it off with pomegranates, pears, dates, and persimmons on top of a bed of marshmallow brûlée.” Explained Becki.

“The table was finished off with flower arrangements and vines to bring in an outdoor feel. Phuong created table centerpieces with deep and passionate colors for the occasion with plum, sapphire, red, burgundy. The large obake anthuriums from Hawaii in the bouquet were definitely the scene stealers amongst the peonies, proteas, mini calla lilies, anemones, thistle, and garden roses. Phuong also created a hanging floral installation of pampas grass, golden raintree pods, ivy and jasmine vines, and peach roses that knew no boundaries nor restraints, much like the couples’ love for one another.” She added.

“Everything was splendid for this proposal and was created for a bolder kind of love with the colors and words to match. And how cute are Jose and Vic whose outfits matched the décor perfectly? Becki of Smith House Photography captured the colors beautifully, but the love captured here was beyond perfect.”
