A COLOURFUL TROPICAL BEACH WEDDING IN COSTA RICA

Miranda & Daniel’s beachfront destination wedding at Langosta Beach is one of the most beautiful weddings we have seen all year. As the grooms family lived in Costa Rica for many years, there was really no doubt that they were going to have the destination wedding in a place that Daniel and his family proudly called home.

“When Daniel and I got engaged, we knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding with our closest family and friends.” Miranda began.

“We decided that a destination wedding would be perfect for us. Costa Rica was the destination of choice because Daniel and his family had lived there for most of his childhood, it was the perfect opportunity to get the family back to Costa Rica, have a beautiful wedding, and have an unforgettable honeymoon.”

“For the theme of the wedding, we really wanted to embrace the natural beauty of the country we were in. We wanted a lot of native flora with an emphasis on greenery to symbolize the lush rainforests of Costa Rica, and we wanted to have the ceremony on the beach so we could enjoy the beauty of the coast.” Miranda explained.

“Our ceremony and reception were held at Langosta Beach Club in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. We had bamboo chairs and vases filled with tropical leaves at the beginning of the aisle of the ceremony. The arch for the ceremony was gorgeous! It was covered in lush green leaves with bright tropical flowers. This theme continued to the reception. We had wood tables with greenery and tropical flower runners, gold accents in the table numbers, charger plates, and candle holders. A clear tent covered the reception tables with strings lights covering the canopy.”

“Flora was the most important decoration element at our wedding. The bridal bouquet was greenery, bright flowers, and one giant succulent. Tropical flora covered the wedding arch, table runners, and the table for the seating chart. We had clear vases filled with giant leaves placed throughout the ceremony and reception area. The boutonnieres were succulents and the corsages were orchids.” She added.

“For our attire, we wanted our looks to be classic with a hint of casual. I was looking for a simple gown, that was light weight (it got pretty hot during the ceremony and photo shoot). I found the perfect dress in Made With Love’s “Harper” at a&bé bridal in Minneapolis. My hair and makeup was done Vicky at Famous Points Beauty Salon. I wanted a natural golden glow, which she achieved perfectly. Whilst, Daniel went for a light weight gray three piece suite and a pair of white tennis shoes. He wanted to make sure he had a vest so he could still have a formal look when he took off his jacket.” “One of my favorite parts of the day was our wedding dance. We took some lessons and practiced for a couple of months before the day but halfway through we completely forgot our moves! We did our best to improvise, it was a lot of fun. Also, we got married in the middle of Costa Rica’s rainy season. With the threat of rain clouds on the horizon, we ended up not getting a drop. That was amazing! Daniels favorite part of the wedding day was our photoshoot. Our photographer, Sylvia, was great! The photos were taken on Tamarindo Beach during sunset. As the anticipation of the ceremony was over, we were able to be together in the most beautiful setting, soaking each other up.”

“Our wedding planner, Barbara at Four Nineteen Weddings, made our wedding better than we could have ever imagined. Honestly, if you are having a destination wedding I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner. And make sure to do your research! We interviewed several planners before we ended up with Barbara. We liked that she lived in Costa Rica and had a close relationships with the vendors in the area. She was very professional and all the weddings she had done were beautiful. Another important aspect to remember when planning a wedding, especially destination, is to keep your guests as best informed as possible. We had a website and a Facebook page to be able to communicate with ours.”
