This Is the Diamond Engagement Ring No One Else Will Have

Would you guys believe me if I told you that I broke my wedding ring a year and a half ago, and haven’t replaced it yet because I have conflicted feelings on engagement ring designs? On one hand, I don’t really think of myself as a white diamond solitaire kinda girl; on the other, I sure do love a good sparkly gemstone that coordinates with everything.

Enter the perfect middle ground: brand-new sponsor Doozie Jewelry and a rainbow of grey, black, and salt and pepper diamonds—stunning, neutral, and unlike anyone else’s. The only downside? They don’t just have one piece that I am coveting, but umm, ten. At least. I mean…

Doozie Jewelry is the one-woman business of Susan Madison, a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate (which is a pretty big deal in the jewelry world), who is based in Denver, Colorado—but makes and ships her gorgeous pieces all around the world. She stumbled across APW while planning her own wedding and fell in love with the community:

I feel like I click with AP..

I feel like I click with APW readers because I am one! The APW couple to me is smart, forward thinking, and above all else, real. Design and craftsmanship is valued as highly as responsible sources and thoughtful production.

There are no more rules about what an engagement ring should or shouldn’t be. People want a piece that really speaks to them. Even the approach to ring shopping has changed (thank goodness!) My husband and I designed our rings together, and choosing to do this represented our relationship—open communication, collaboration, and an equal partnership. The symbolism behind a ring is deeply important to me, and I take great joy knowing that a ring I craft with my two hands will become that symbol of love and commitment in a couple’s life.

However, it all comes down to the finished piece. I think obsessively about jewelry and design, and I create jewelry that’s bold, one of a kind, and striking. I’m creating for those who want high-quality, high-end design with an anything but ordinary result.

The definition of doozie is “something outstanding or unique of its kind,” and boy, Susan’s designs sure live up to that name. And bonus, all those gorgeous pieces solely use ethically sourced, conflict-free gemstones obtained from a small selection of curated suppliers, and the metals are either recycled or certified Fairmined. Doozie Jewelry also takes on commissions for custom designs (which are next-level good), and allows for tweaking stone or metal choices on in-stock designs. Prices range from $140 for the simplest “barely there” gold band up to $4,500 for the larger more intricate diamond engagement rings.

So if you are in the market for an engagement ring (lucky!), wedding band (I mean, look at how they stack ☝️), or even a different kind of mama-deserves-some-sparkle (I’ll take this watermelon tourmaline necklace, pls!) this coming holiday season, then what are you waiting for?! Head on over to the Doozie Jewelry site to browse some bling, or check out a few more options and over one hundred 5-star reviews on the Etsy store, and then do yourself a real favor and…
