How Will Grandma Get There? The Prado at Balboa Park is located just a few minutes away via car from downtown San Diego. Most out of town guests would most likely want to stay in the Gaslamp Quarter, which has a ton of hotel options in varying price ranges, such as the US Grant.
Party On! Events can go until 1 a.m.
The Prado at Balboa Park is a National Historic Landmark, originally built to celebrate the 1914 opening of the Panama Canal. A 3-year renovation saw it’s re-opening in 2000, restoring the building’s architecture, artwork, sculptures, alcoves, gardens and fountains in keeping with its original Spanish, Morrish and Mexican architecture. With over two dozen original, hand-painted, wooden stencil designs on doors as well as the intricate hand stenciled ceilings and beams, Prado at Balboa Park features over 22,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
Woman Getting Married Says:
This wedding venue offers pretty much everything you could want: a great location, tons of space, and LOTS of charm. It’s really the perfect combination. Pricing for the quality of food you’ll get from the Cohn Restaurant Group (who runs the venue) is top-notch, and brides rave about their wedding staff. And can we also talk about how the Grand Ballroom DOES NOT have carpet?! Seriously, hooray for wood floors for EVERY venue.
