“Be prepared for weather…and then embrace it! If it’s raining, rent fab umbrellas! Warm? Provide guests with water personalized for your wedding. Breezy? Design the reception with blankets hanging off each chair.”

“We love foliage! Adding a touch of tasteful foliage to any fall wedding is a must. From pinecones to the beautiful reds, oranges or yellows in the changing leaves, you can bring in that touch without screaming fall!”

“The smallest details do not go unnoticed. Have your groom’s tie and boutonniere match the season, too!”

“Rich colors are a must, pastels don’t suit autumn!”

Valarie Falvey of Kirkbrides Wedding Planning & Design:

“When we think of fall, we think of a cozy atmosphere with rustic influences. Incorporating wooden tables into your reception layout adds an amazing homey feel, not to mention that candles, flowers and greenery always stand out beautifully on them!”

“Fall weddings aren’t complete without a suit to match in color. Elizabeth & Ramesh hosted a beautiful fall Indian wedding at Priam Vineyards in September, complete with warm floral accents in orange, purple, and red. Dahlias and berries commanded attention in the bouquets, and in line with the fall theme, the groom wore a brown vest and bowtie underneath his grey suit jacket.” Watch the video below!

Euri Wong, Lead Designer at Bloominous:

“A favorite fall wedding trend that we’re seeing more and more is foregoing the traditional fall palette of reds, oranges and yellows. We love either going a really dramatic route with shades of deep reds and purples (dahlias are a must in this palette) and accented with bluish greenery like acacia. Another color option is to go super antique and incorporate warm butterscotch and caramel tones accented with pink and peach – creole carnations, quicksand and cappuccino roses, caramel antique garden roses accented with soft silvery greens like lamb’s ear, sage, and eucalyptus.”

“Every fall wedding needs a cozy detail…(faux) furs for the bridal party are just the ticket!”

“Our brides are loving rich pops of crimson in their color palettes, and so are we! It provides visual excitement especially when contrasted with more muted autumn tones.”

Lisa Costin of A Charming Fête:

“Do something a little more unexpected than pumpkins and typical fall colors, instead aim for a deeper layered palette of burgundy, wine, pale marigold and wedgwood blue. Incorporate warm rich textures like velvet linens and metallic gold for a more luxe fall vibe. Fall doesn’t always have to mean rustic!”

“A fun seasonal treat station will really get your guests in the fall spirit! Whether it be a hot chocolate or hot cider bar, candied apples or popcorn station, you will love this as an alternative (or addition) to a wedding cake and your guests will love a sweet little treat that captures the changing season!”

Renee Dalo of Moxie Bright Events:

“Fall is such a perfect season for weddings! One of the best things about fall is the opportunity to feature fall cuisine like pumpkin, butternut squash, turkey – all are welcome on fall menus! Also, serve your guests something unexpected, like sparkling apple cider as a pre-ceremony beverage or hot cocoa after dinner. Fall is a time to celebrate all its flavors!”

Jaime Kostechko of Wild Heart Events:

“A seating chart that reflects the season is a must! Textiles reflecting the colors of the season add to your table decor. Plus, a candy apple bar is the latest in fall dessert trends!”

Kari Dirksen of Feathered Arrow:

I often make suggestions to brides to incorporate fun little details for their guests that can elevate the experience and make guests feel cozy as temperatures drop a bit. For example, if the venue has a fireplace, turn it on and create a comfy lounge around it. Provide cocktails for your guests that make you think Fall, like a mulled cider or mulled wine. Lastly, providing some blankets for guests to wrap up in is always a nice detail plus it keeps guests there and dancing all night long.”

Anything with whiskey adds warmth; like this seating chart comprised of hand-lettered whiskey and bourbon bottles.”
